The open areas adjacent to mature woods provide an edge environment making good habitat for Eastern Blue Birds and several swallow species. Expect to see vireos, warblers, buntings, and shorebirds. Parking is available year-around but is limited to the sledding hill parking area in winter.

A variety of warblers, flycatchers, woodpeckers, sparrows, hawks, and Eastern Bluebirds are often seen. Rare sightings include Belted Kingfishers, Warbling Vireos, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, American Redstarts, Indigo Buntings, and mergansers
