ST. CLAIR - MACOMB BIRDING TRAIL
Congratulations! You have taken interest in one of the fastest-growing hobbies in the United States – birding, or bird watching as it is more commonly known. According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, about 45 million Americans are birders. And that number grew during the COVID-19 pandemic, with people restricted to their homes and neighborhoods.
St. Clair and Macomb counties are home to a wide variety of resident and migrating birds thanks to a diverse habitat and access to large lakes, rivers and streams. The area also sits below multiple migratory routes, the Atlantic and the Mississippi flyways, providing birders with chances to observe different birds at different times of the year.
With this guide, you will have access to information about 38 bird viewing sites in St. Clair and Macomb counties, including the different bird species you can expect to see, or maybe experience a rare sighting, amenities, and if any costs are associated with a particular viewing site, among other information.
Good luck, and enjoy your time birding!
